Protein powder

Protein powders are in different types based on the constituent material. For instance we have whey protein, soy protein and casein protein. Whey protein is the most common protein among athletes due to its enrichment of essential amino acids. Whey protein has the highest biological protein value and it can be absorbed quickly by body.
Protein is very popular among athletes specially bodybuilders since it helps metabolism, muscle gain and strength, and of course loses the fat.
Protein exists in many sources of food like lean meat, chicken, fish, eggs, dairy products like milk, yoghurt and cheese, seeds and nuts, beans and legumes such as lentils and chickpeas but sometimes people and bodybuilders prefer to take the whey protein which is complete source of protein.

Why and when we need to take protein?

⁃- During adolescence
An adolescent’s body needs more protein as it ages, especially if it is accompanied by exercise

– When you just started exercising If you are doing exercise regularly during a week, your body needs more sources of protein

– when you are on vegetarian diet
Since Vegetarian people do not consume the most important sources of protein like meat, chicken, fish or even eggs and dairy products, they definitely need to take protein powder.

Professional athletes can take 1/2 to 1/4 grams per day.
Body builders are recommended to take 1/5 to 2 grams protein powder for per kg of weight.

Precautions

Although whey protein seems to be the best option for human body but there are also some considerations or limitations in protein intake. people with kidney or liver issues may need to avoid whey protein or at least consult with a doctor before taking it.
Adolescents are recommended to consume the natural sources of protein rather than protein powder. In fact protein powder is food supplement and if we could supply and cover the daily protein by natural ingredients, we would not need to take protein powder.
